Light and Motion are passionate outdoor enthusiasts who have the experience to engineer great equipment. This ideal environment allows them to put their designs to the ultimate test. As their product line continues to expand their mission remains the same: To enhance the lives of their customers by their products and personal interactions.
In 1989 Light & Motion founders, Barrett Heywood and Michael Topolovac, started experimenting with underwater lighting systems. These dove enthusiasts were driven to build a company where designers would create innovative world-class products for a variety of sport specific applications. By 1991, the company was shipping underwater video systems worldwide and had expanded into a 16,500 square foot, renovated sardine cannery overlooking the Monterey Bay. This one facility houses the CNC machine, molding, assembly shops, and design offices. After a decade of designing and creating innovative underwater lighting products, Light & Motion returned to dry land.
Not far from the rolling wave breaks of Monterey, Light & Motion found opportunity on the single track of the Laguna Seca hills. In 1999, Light & Motion brought their proven experience and pioneering spirit to the world of cycling. The company’s products were met with an enthusiastic response and immediately revolutionized the bike light industry.
