Optimising a frame to handle braking torque applied by disc brakes is as much of an art as it is science. To make the most of the braking power a disc brake applies, Cube chose the X12 system for both the frame and fork dropouts axles. The X12 replaces the traditional 5mm Quick Release with a 12mm threaded axle. This increases torsional stiffness in the frame and fork significantly, which when combined with the tapered headtube, it creates an exceptionally stiff bike build without any sacrifices in comfort.
The inclusion of disc brakes and the applied frame stiffness and comfort provides precise steering and reliable braking in all weather conditions. This bike has been designed with internally routed cables to keep shifting cables protected from the elements and it gives the bike a clean look. Full mudguards can also be easily fitted to this bike if you know you will be riding in wet weather conditions; even the veteran racers prefer to stay dry on long rides through bad weather.
This bike features the Shimano 105 11-Speed groupset, complete with a wide-ranging 2x11 gear setup. Complete with a compact crankset, which features a 50t and 34t chainring; all that is required for a performance geared race bike. The 11-Speed cassette has a gear range of 11-32. This combined gear range gives the Attain GTC Pro bike excellent descending gears and exceptional climbing ability; it has gears to climb the steepest ascents and enough of a low range to enable pedalling on fast descents. The Shimano RS505 hydraulic disc brakes enable you to brake later into corners thanks to the power and modulation (feel) of hydraulic brakes; it adds a massive competitive boost. To finish the package, Cube has equipped this race machine with Fulcrum Racing 77 Disc wheels and Continental Grand Sport Race SL tyres. Both of which provide superb rolling efficiency and increase rider confidence.
