Aluminum alloy is still one of the best materials to make a bicycle frame from and Mekk employs the latest in alloy material manipulation techniques, giving a ride quality that rivals some carbon composite bikes costing twice as much. Mekk aluminum alloy delivers similar stiffness to the best carbon fiber composite materials and in some areas it delivers more.
The tradeoff is a little more weight but the gain is a lower price tag and proven durability. Mekk could have spent a lot more money making the A1 Series frames lighter and then passed that cost on to you, but the durable performance would have been compromised and Mekk don’t believe in compromises.
The Shimano Tiagra componetry is dependable and works very well. Shifting is good and delivers the performance you require. Also, the Pinerolo features the Tiagra compact chainset. Couple this with a wide range of sprockets on the cassette, this provides you with a great range of gears choices for all types of road terrain, be it a steep hill, long drag or a flat road. Either-way the compact chainset gives you the best of both worlds - great climbing gearing with good speed gearing also.
The wheels are a mixture of Mavic CXP22 rims on unbranded hubs. Not the lightest set of wheels, but they will provide hours of hassle free riding. They are also wrapped with a pair of Kenda Sport tires and will provide plenty of grip.
The finishing kit on this bike is thanks to Mekk (stem and seat post) and Ritchey (handlebars and tape) with a Mekk saddle topping it off nicely. The inhouse Mekk components helps to reduce the price to you, yet still offers great components and quality to finish off the machine.
A great choice of bike for the rider wanting to experience cycling for the first time without spending a small fortune. Each Pinerolo is fully built, tested and tuned by Wiggle's team of qualified bike mechanics to ensure you're bike arrives in perfect condition.
