The new Eastway Balun is a pure cyclocross machine, all out race bike that is ready to carry you, or be carried, over every course designed. The frame is built a full race geometry, with relatively steep angles and a high bottom bracket. While the bike has been designed as a race machine, the bike is more than capable to handle micro-adventures. The build on the Balun is complete with a Tiagra groupset, Shimano RS500 46/36 chainset and Shimano RX10 wheelset matched to Continental Cyclo X King. Ritchey finishing kit, with the new flared evo max handlebar and a Fizik Tundra saddle will keep you rolling with confidence all season long.
The Shimano Tiagra groupset gets a revamp for 2016 in looks, design and technology. Following on from it's older brothers, it offers clean looks, great shifting and excellent performance. The chainset features the 4-arm spider bringing it inline with 105, Ultegra and Dura Ace. Using a 46/36 compact gearing, you can tackle even the steepest climbs with confidence. 10 speed Tiagra STi levers offer improved ergonomics, smoother shifter and lever movement, under-tape cable routing and a more comfortable brake hood. Shifting is precise and consistent, right the way through the 10 speed drivetrain.
A 24mm rim profile and sealed bearing hubs make the RX10 a really durable wheelset, suitable for riding in any conditions. Built with stainless spokes all round. 24 spoke at both the front and rear to keep the weight down. Easy to use Centre-Lock rotor mount for the disc brake rotors. The Continental CycloKing tyres provide excellent grip in all conditions.
The TRP HY/RD cable actuated hydraulic disc calipers with 160 rotors provide exceptional stopping power, whatever the conditions.
Finishing the Balun off is a set of bars, stem and seatpost from the Comp and OE series by Ritchey in black. Light weight, strong and reliable are the best way to describe this kit. Topping it off Eastway have supplied a custom colourway Fizik Tundra saddle offering maximum comfort.

If an Ex Demo or Shop soiled bike is listed, then this bike has been used for demonstration / test ride purposes. There will be no structural damage to the bike, but it will have VERY minimal wear to the drivetrain and contact points, may have small scratches/marks on the bike and, although the bike has been cleaned, there could be evidence of road riding/dirt on the tyres and rest of bike Note: Manufacturer may reserve the right to change the specification of that listed or shown on this page.
Please also note that Ex Demo and Shop Soiled bikes can only be sold within the UK.
Cyclocross bikes are similar to road bike, they are lightweight, with narrow tires and drop handlebars. However, they also share characteristics with mountain bicycles in that they utilize knobby treaded tires for traction, and cantilever style brakes for the clearance needed due to muddy conditions. They have to be lightweight because competitors need to carry their bicycle to overcome barriers or slopes too steep to climb in the saddle. The sight of competitors struggling up a muddy slope with bicycles on their shoulders is the classic image of the sport, although un-ridable sections are generally a very small fraction of the race distance. Cross bikes also make good winter bikes or commuters, their frames have plenty of clearance which allows for fenders, while the upright angles make them agile around town, meaning you can hit the trails at the weekend and then fit some road tires and commute on them during the week.
The Eastway circuit in East London was the greatest cycle racing circuit in the UK until it was closed to make way for the London Olympic velodrome in 2006. The name Eastway still resonates high speed action, performance, emotion and theater with racers; these memories and our passion have gone in to the very heart of these bikes and wiggle are beyond proud to deliver you the new Eastway brand. Reborn from the 30 year legacy and still emanating the spirit of the circuit, the new range of Eastway bikes delivers market leading bikes. With full design being undertaken by riders within the wiggle team that settle for nothing but the very best, we have been able to bring you products that have the essence of the Eastway circuit coursing through them, offering true performance at the absolute best price.
The size chart below will get you on the right size bike. Experienced riders may also wish to refer to the geometry chart for more detail.
Getting the Right Fit
At Wiggle we measure each of our bikes to build accurate size charts for our customers. Our qualified team of mechanics then individually check each order, against measurements supplied by you, to ensure the size chosen is correct. Another reason you can have complete confidence when buying a bike from Wiggle!
If you are on the change over between sizes both options will fit. Racers and experienced riders would usually select a smaller size as this offers quicker handing. A larger bike offers more stability and is more suited to new and intermediate riders.
