The Laguna features a compact Microtech chainset which, coupled with a wide range of sprockets on the cassette, gives you a broad range of gears for both good flat out speed and climbing work alike. The remainder of the group is 105 too (apart from the brake calipers which are Microtech) which is both good quality and lightweight, offering good shifting and braking performance without costing the earth.
The groupset is great but the most important part of this bike is the frame. The Laguna frame is Basso's most accessible carbon fiber offering but there's nothing budget about the ride it delivers. It uses a combination of Torayca TR50 and MR60 carbon fiber with a UD (unidirectional) finish and results in a road bike which is both comfortable, strong and responsive.
The Laguna is finished throughout with good quality in-house brand Microtech parts. This includes the alloy clincher 'Krium' wheels, handlebars, stem and seat post and helps to keep the Laguna competitive at the scales and at the checkout.
